Description
Since being first isolated six decades ago, enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), a member of the Picornaviridae family, has led to multiple outbreaks around the world and is believed to be associated with acute flaccid myelitis. However, there are still unmet gaps in diagnosis and surveillance of EV-D68. This webinar jointly organized by PASCV and ESCV will discuss the epidemiology and pathogenesis of EV-D68 and discuss different practices for the diagnosis and surveillance of EV-D68 across Europe, the United States and Latin America.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize infections due to enterovirus D68
  • Compare global diagnosis and surveillance practice of enterovirus D68
  • Identify challenges and opportunities for diagnosis and control of enterovirus D68
